Ae Rigging Tool, DUIK 15 Crowdfunding Campaign… Let’s Get this Done!

Nicolas Dufresne has started a crowd funding campaign to advance the features of DUIK for After Effects into a brand new version packed with some great features.

Developping the new version of the essential tool set for rigging and animation on After Effects

DUIK 15 will feature new IK system with Goals (…wow!). There will also be a more advanced auto-rigging system that will have more refined features. You will be able to auto rig a character with better foot controls such as foot roll and heal to toe action that are standard in other application rigs. The Auto Rigging will also feature a system for rigging quadrupeds.

Until now, an IK could only be created on two layers (for example, the upper arm and the forearm, or the thigh and the calf), with a possibility to add a Goal to the limb (the last part : the hand or the foot).

With DUIK 15 you will be able to create an IK chain on three layers, while keeping the possibility to add a goal to the limb. This can be very useful to human limbs: adding an extra layer in the elbows or the knees can help a better bending. And obviously, this can enable more animal or mechanic rigs.

DUIK 15 will also host some more animation tools such as blink, move away and paint animation.

  • List controller, to be able to mix different animations and expressions on one property.
  • Move Away tool which can move away a layer from another.
  • Animate Paint, to easily animate paint strokes made in After Effects.
  • Blink, to easily create a blinking property.
  • Randomizer, to randomize transformations, in points and out points of layers.
  • 2D Camera, to create controllers to automatically move backgrounds and overlays, faking a camera without the need of 3D Layers.
  • Translation tool
  • A very simple app will be available to enable users to add or update their own translations of Duik, in any language. Those translations could then be included in future updates of Duik!
  • Easier to use
  • Some enhancements to the interface, and including help inside Duik will make it even easier to use, and easier to understand each tool.

I can’t really stress enough how badly tools like this are needed in After Effects – Please go and donate to the DUIK 15 crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo… do it!
