Creating Fake Type for Infographics Animation in After Effects

Fake type? If you have ever created infographics or a motion graphics piece where something needed to represent a block of type on the screen, but also didn’t need to be legible, this is a great tip for you.

Mikey Borup shows how you can save a huge amount of time for creating fake type, or an animated type block, by using an actual font. This is in contrast to tediously using shape layers.

It is a pretty simple technique to pul off and remember, so that the next time you need fake type, or an animated type block, you can just quickly use Ae’s own text animators for the job.
