I think this hysterical, a sort of story telling through the frustration sending after effects crash reports to adobe. Holy hell After Effects crashes a lot wth is up with that crap?

3d ribbon in after effects using particular
This is pretty sweet, using the trapcode particulars plugin in after effects to create a ribbon that has two movable ends like the beam effect would behave. You can download the AE file to try out here.

create 3D Shapes script for after effects
Charles Bordenave updates the Create3DShapes script for after effects which is a package of 6 scripts: Create3DBox, Create3DSphere, Create3DCylinder, Create3DPyramid, Create3DMengerSponge,Create 3DFallingDominoes. Create3Dshapes for after effects creates the 3D shape using user-defined comp layers where you can assign a layer to each side, and the script will position and scale them to build a the shape of given size.
