Kyle Layser shares a freeware MEL script for Maya to assist in the “modest” rigging tentacles and other such objects. Tentacle will create a joint chain for the use in tails, tentacles, hair, metal chains and has options for joint tapering, secondary tip falloff and per joint instancing as well. Best part is that it is all nodes based and doesn’t use expressions. Check out the Maya Tentacle Rigging Script here.
