A good look at getting started with the Digital Molecular Matter (DMM) Plugin now bundled with Maya 2012 by tutorial author Micheal Hurwicz. DMM is a physics and shatter Engine and plugin for 3D packages such as Maya and 3DS Max that creates destruction and deformation animations in less time while increasing quality from Pixelux Entertainment. Check out Using Digital Molecular MAtter (DDM) in Maya tutorial here.

“DMM (Digital Molecular Matter) is pixelux’s solution to simulate material physics, or the dynamic behavior of objects made of actual materials. The DMM technology is capable of soft-body, plastically deforming (e.g., bending metal) and breakable objects all within the same system.”

“In this Autodesk Maya 2012 tutorial, Creative COW leader Michael Hurwicz looks at Digital Molecular Matter (DMM), a plug-in for creating shatter, destruction and deformation effects. DMM is now included in Maya 2012.”

When shattering an object. some of the pieces stay in the air. Is there a setting to provide gravity to those pieces or delete them\make invisible?
