I’ve posted a basic C4D project which uses the math behind a Zolly to automate the process a little more…adjusting focal length (slider for 16-300mm in the slider) will adjust Z position of the camera to the subject.
Perhaps someone more adept at Xpresso than me will add ports to account for objects at oblique angles to the subject.
