Using Spline Deformer to Control Camera Like a Path Constraint in Modo 601

By July 7, 2012No Comments

Richard Hurrey shows how you are able to have a camera move in Modo 601 along a spline deformer. Richard notes that the key point of understanding is that any object can be deformed in Modo by using either an ItemInfluence or a Weight Container with a General Influence.

Here I show how you can “deform” a camera along a spline deformer’s path. The spline deformer is also connected to a mesh through a general influence, so you have 1 “Effector” (definition of the deformation effect) and 2 “Influences” (application of said effect) so that the camera item is deformed and a mesh.

I have tried the Modo demo on first release, however I must say that I am absolutely and continually amazed by Luxology Modo’s capabilities when I watch tutorials such as this one. The feature set is expressly robust, and I love Modo’s approach to workflow. Perhaps it is time for me to take another look at Modo!
