There has been a lot of hype centered around Isotropix Clarisse iFX and with good reason. Early examples and demonstrations of Clarrise iFX easily chewing through BILLIONS of polygons, yes billions, and practically solely on CPU, not GPU, is certainly a great cause for all the hype.

From the Siggraph 2012 Tech Talk, Isotropix has posted Artistically Correct Rendering showing off Clarisse iFX and showing an overview of Clarisse and also provides a live demo of Clarisse in action.

Isotropix Clarisse, represents the next level in 3D workflows and is meant to blur the line between 2D and 3D sitting squarely in the middle providing a work environment that is an all in one paint, animate, texture, surface, render and compositional tool that claims to re-invent the way that high-end 2D and 3D digital images are created.
