Pat Imrie takes a look at creating a reverse foot rig in Maya, starting with correct Joint placement, providing a suggested bend angle that will assist the IK handles with proper rotations.

A reverse foot set up is something that is so commonly used in rigging, being the definitive method to really get control of the leg and feet, so over the course of time there have been quite a bit of development in creating a reverse foot rig, and many, many diverse ways to create a reverse foot rig. Some methods prove more flexible and elegant than others, and this probably represents a reverse foot rig in its most basic and simplistic form creating the foot rig with simple IK handles and Maya Set Driven Keys for foot roll control.
