If you recall, back in October, Tony Ambles showed off the progress made on Ionic which is and SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics)/ DEM (Discrete element method)/ OpenCL Solver Plugin for Maya that he is creating which showed some pretty particle heavy scenes being pushed around by the GPU as if they were nothing.
I’ve finally released an open beta for Ionic. It will be free until the end of the year, then I’ll see what I can do with it. I’d like to make a commercial product but for it I have to able to give the right support
Recently Tony has taken Ionic for Maya to an Open Beta Stage and has created a simple forum for it as well. Tony hopes to extend Ionic beyond the beta stage to a full fledged product as some point. Check out the development process on Ionic for Maya
Hi!
This is a test with the new foam system. Ionic will export the foam and fluid particles in different caches so you can then import them in Maya (nParticles), Realflow (.bin) or Houdini(.bgeo).
400 frames, 2.0 millions fluid particles, 1.0 million foam, 1h50 minutes, everything together, sim+foam.
