Sam Wirch demonstrates how to source, import and run external Python scripts and add them to the Maya Shelf with this quick tutorial.

a video tutorial of how to source external Python scripts and add them to your shelf in Maya

Sam originally created this tutorial to show how one might set up and use his R&L Lighting and Rendering Scripts that are written in Python.

The R&L Lighting and Rendering Scripts for Maya will automate common rendering and lighting tasks in mental ray for Maya including tools for setting up Ambient Occlusion, setting up and adjusting depth passes, generating command line rendering syntax through the GIU (which is fantastic btw) and a suite of buttons to set up test renders quickly.

If you want more information on Sam’s R&L Lighting and Rendering Scripts fro Maya, the can be found here.
