Exploring some techniques for Add-Blend methods in non-linear colorspace in After Effects, Hiroshi Saito also includes the AddMix style familiar to the NUKE or Shake compositors.

This demo introduces some methods to control “Add” blend mode without ‘linear blending’

Hiroshi Saito shows how to control the Add blend mode in After Effects without linear blending, and demonstrates this by three examples.

Add1 where the Foreground images is add-blended on the background image and then is multiplied with an inverted foreground image.

Add2 is essentially the same as the first method, only using the inverted foreground image’s luminance value. And the third is Addmix which is similar to the NUKe AddMix Node. Hiroshi Saito also provides the After Effects file for download here.
