Pete makes the top lip of the pitcher by making the surface editable and sculpting vertices, and uses the Explosion FX Deformer to add thickness to the pitchers wall which will give the proper refraction when rendering.

Pete also covers how to model the handle using sweep NURBS and controlling the thickness with the scale curves.
