Comparing Chromatic Aberration Techniques in After Effects and Nuke

School of Motion’s Joey Korenman compares the techniques and workflow needed to make a chromatic aberration effects in both After Effects and Nuke, and strives to make an attempt as to why Nuke is better suited for creating look development and straight up compositing tasks.

Chromatic aberration is one of those tricks that every compositor has to pull out at some point, and it is also the perfect effect to use as a demonstration of the differences between the way After Effects and Nuke work

Joey walks through creating a chromatic aberration effect in After Effects using the shift channels effect against multiple layers in the AE Timeline. In contrast, Joey also creates the same effect in Nuke, taking advantage of Nuke’s nodal workflow. Check out Joey’s post on the tutorial for Chromatic Aberration in After Effects & Nuke here.
