E-on Software posts a couple interesting items, one is essentially a trailer for Plant Factory, and the other is a bit of a quick start guide into getting started using Plant Factory. Plant Factory is E-on’s plant modeling and rendering technology aimed squarely at the VFX, CG, Architectural and Gaming communities, creating some pretty stunning vegetation.

Using the graph of nodes, you build your plants from simple geometry nodes

It does seem that there are quite a lot of tree and plant solutions out there, both free and paid, including TreeSketch, SpeedTree, etc.

However, Plant Factory does has some interesting workflows for creating plants of all kinds. I can see how it would be valuable for developing libraries of vegetation for ongoing projects. Plant Factory comes in three versions, a high end “producer” version, and a mi-range “studio” version as well as a designer version rounding out the low end.
