Luiz Philippe Moreira walks through the use of his lpDynamicChains tool which will allow you to create dynamic joint chains in Maya based on his previous tutorial for creating dynamic joint chains with Maya’s nHair.

Allowing you to specify which joints you want to be dynamic, lpDynamicChains can also help turn geometry into collision objects. Luiz notes that simulations can be cached or baked as animation right onto the joints, and then the nodes making up the dynamic chain can be removed when done.
