By October 16, 2013No Comments

MESA updates to version 2, after an initial release, providing import and export exchange with the Valve Source Engine. MESA provides a suite of MEL scripts in Maya that will aid in exporting and importing 3D models into Valve Source, allowing you to create assets for Source right within Maya.

This includes support for static, physics, breakable, dynamic and ragdoll models, and supported bodygroups. MESA 2 sports a new Maya shelf with new shelf icons leading off the user interface refinements from version 1.

The new environment system in MESA 2 is now completely independent from the Source SDK environment variables, and the Maya.env files are no longer needed to define the environment variables that MESA requires to work. MESA 2 will also provide the project environment workspaces for the 20 Games powered by the Source Engine and MESA 2 is now compatible with all recent version of Maya (2011/2012/2013/2014 x86/x64).
