Using Cinema 4D’s Spline Tag’s Rail Spline Option to Assist in Animating a Growing Cable

By October 10, 2013No Comments

The Pixel Lab’s Joren Kandel shares a quick tip for growing a cable element by animating the SweepNURBS nGrowth in Cinema 4D, with an audio jack element leading the way, following the leading edge of the cable growth.

In this tutorial I’ll show you a quick tip for using the align to spline tag in conjunction with the spline rail

Joren shows how using another spline in the Rail Path attribute of the Spline Tag to achieve the correct behavior for the audio jack to follow along with the growth of the cable. By using the Rail Path, you are able to orient the object along the spline correctly, leaving you free to keyframe its position to follow along with the growth of the cable. Check out the tutorial for Using the Spline Rail to Align Objects to an Animated spline in Cinema 4D here.
