Taking a look at the process for creating a CG element in a photograph, Dan Conrad walks through how he created a composite of a rusted and beat up old truck showing how he built the scene the materials, his approach to rendering and finally compositing in After Effects.

In this three part Cinema 4D Tutorial, we will render a rusted and worn truck in Cinema 4D and composite it in After Effects

Dan shows how to clean up the pate photography in preparation, and then uses Cinema 4D’s Camera Calibrator to form the scene. Dan shows how to create a rust shader to give the truck a weathered and beat up look by using a dust material for placement. Finally Dan discusses strategies for compositing the image in After Effects making use of the rendered layers from Cinema 4d.
