Maya | Variable Kinematics Script

If you yet to see Jeff Brodsky’s take on creating a “Variable” kinematic rig he used on the elephant trunks while working on the project “The Legend Of Tembo”, you should really do so.

great to use if you are creating a rig for a tail, a trunk, a tentacle or a limb for an animated adventure time style movie

Inspired by the variable FK trunk rig demo, Dmitry Kryukov created a script that is based on the ideas of Jeff Brodsky. the Maya Variable Kinematics Script will build a variable FK rig that can be used for tentacles, trunks, limbs or anything really, giving you parametric control over the rotation of the joints, as well as positional control along the joint chain. Dmitry notes that the concept for variable FK is not a new one, as it was proposed by Vladimir Zabelin back in 2012.
