Red Giant announced the release of Magic Bullet Looks 2.5, a free update for current users of Looks and the Red Giant Color Suite

Magic Bullet Looks and Universe

A couple of weeks ago, Red Giant announced “Universe” a completely new subscription based development platform that offers access to an effects library that will continually grow new effects and update existing ones. Magic Bullet Looks has been rebuilt on the same flexible GPU enhanced platform. This opens the door for Red Giant to do much bigger things with Magic Bullet in the future.

“It might look mostly the same at first glance,” said Nate Sparks, Red Giant Color Suite product manager, “but what’s under the hood is brand-spanking, entirely new. Magic Bullet Looks has been around for a long time, and we know how much users depend on it every day in their work. But we reached a point in development where the older technology it was built on was holding us back.”

The new reborn version of Magic Bullet Looks 2.5 is actually being offered as a free one. If you are a registered user of Magic Bullet Looks, you can Download and learn more about the Magic Bullet Looks 2.5 upgrade at the MBL Update page here.

PluralEyes 3.5

In addition to the Magic Bullet Looks announcement, Red Giant has also announced a new version of PluralEyes, the shooter suite’s automated audio/video sync tool. PluralEyes analyzes audio from all devices and automatically syncs them with the touch of a button.

The PluralEyes 3.5 update offers a faster experience and a new Drift Correction function that can correct sync drift where the audio and video loose sync over the duration of longer clips. This will allow PluralEyes users to achieve frame accurate sync from recorders that don’t even have a frame-level of accuracy. In addition to the drift correction, PluralEyes now offers more expanded media support.

“We want PluralEyes to be as useful to as many people as possible,” said Randon Morford, Shooter Suite product manager. “A lot of our focus for this release has been on improving and expanding support for more media types. We’ve greatly improved support for AVCHD cameras, including support for spanned clips.”

PluralEyes 3.5 includes further improvements to its synchronizing algorithms making PluralEyes 3.5 faster and more accurate than previous versions. Also new in PluralEyes 3.5 is an integration with BulletProof, Red Giant’s footage backup and preparation tool. When you are ready to begin syncing your files, BulletProof sends the imported footage over to PluralEyes in an organized way, allowing you to sync your footage immediately.

Pricing & Availability

PluralEyes 3.5 beta will be available soon, with a release in Q2 for $199. Existing users of PluralEyes qualify for a $79 upgrade. Customers who buy PluralEyes from today (March 31, 2014) forward are eligible for a free PluralEyes 3.5 upgrade when it ships.

About Red Giant

Red Giant is a software company made up of talented artists and technologists who work together to create unique tools for filmmakers, editors, VFX artists, and motion designers. As a company, our culture is focused on finding balance between work and life – we call it “the double bottom line” – and it has helped us create our philosophy of ignoring complexity in favor of building simple tools that yield giant results in less time. Over the last decade or so, our products (like Magic Bullet and Trapcode) have become the standard in film and broadcast post-production.  It’s nearly impossible to watch 20 minutes of TV without seeing our software in use. Red Giant tools are built from our own continuing experiences as artists in the field. We believe in providing not only tools for artists, but inspiration for them in the form of award winning short films and free training. Learn more about us at redgiant.com.
