Optimizing Render Times By Using V-Ray Material Override

By July 16, 2014One Comment

Angelos Roditakis takes a quick look on a way to reduce render times without any compromise in the final render but using the V-Ray Material Override. The technique comes from his exploration in trying to replicate the affects for a similar technique seen in Ken Trammel’s “Shader Forge: Material Speed Boost” tutorial for Blender’s Cycles Renderer.

Essentially you are segmenting which parts of the material will be rendered through the GI engine and which parts will not. Angelos does make note that the results are comparably similar, although less so when using irradiance map and light cache render settings.
