Eugene Opperman demonstrates how to create a procedural Houndstooth material using Cinema 4D’s Layer Shader.

Every beginner should know the power of using the Layer Shader. You can quickly create complex patterns with the layer shader by breaking them down into their simplest forms. This is a good guide to generating and constructing materials procedurally in C4D.

Using the power of Cinema 4D’s Layer Shader, I’ll show you how to quickly create complex patterns, in this example the Houndstooth pattern, by breaking them down into their simplest form and constructing them layer by layer procedurally inside of Cinema 4D.
