With the release of Maya 2016 Ext 2, there are new artist friendly tools for creating pose space deformations with a new shape authoring workflow. Using brushes, a new Blend Shape her interface, and an enhanced blend shape deformer, you can easily art-direct rigs with a more front to back and comprehensive workflow.

Here, Trevor Adams, Principal User Experience Designer Autodesk, shows off the new workflows for shape authoring in Maya 2016. There are a couple of examples that walk through using the new shape authoring tools for facial rigging and expressions, as well as controlling a character’s limb deformations.
