Getting Started With C4D’s Projection Man

If you are after a workflow for creating digital matte paintings, Projection Man in C4D is your tool. The tool really males it easy to set up a shot for camera projections, or camera maps. If you are not familiar with the technique of camera projections, it is a method for creating a scene by combining simple stand-in geometry with a projected image. Camera mapping allows you to project an image in camera space.

Here, Digital Meat’s Samuel Winter, shows how you can get started with camera projections in Cinema 4D, by using Projection Man. Part one consists of camera calibration, which will get the scene oriented correctly first. Then part one covers creating simple geometry that will eventually take the projection.

Part two covers possible issues you need to be aware of when camera projecting, and solutions such as coverage cameras, and coverage renders.
