Flame Generator Offers an Easy Way to Create Fire and Smoke Effects in Maya

Istanbul based FX and CG Lighting Specialist Arif Akca posts a free and handy FX tool for Maya, the Flame Generator Panel. The Maya script, written in Python, offers a super-easy way to create flame, fire and smoke simulations in Maya.

The script uses Maya’s underlying fluid toolset, but makes it much quicker to create flame effects with just a few clicks. The panel houses a filtered view of Maya’s Fluid Effects, with divided sections for simulations, color / transparency, and a few advanced settings. Simply select your object, and hit the Generator’s “Burn” button.

You can alter the color and transparency of the flame effects after it’s created. The Flame Generator can be downloaded for free.
