Create a Movable Pivot Rig in Blender

Pierrick Picaut Shows How to Create a Movable Pivot Rig in Blender Using a Couple of Bones

Freelancer, 3D Generalist and Blender Foundation Certified Trainer Pierrick Picaut shows a simple technique for creating a movable pivot to facilitate complex rotations in animations. Some rigs will need a way to adjust or move the axis, especially for rotational animations.

In Pierrick’s example, to animate a knife being thrown through the air and sticking in its target, it would be helpful to have a sliding pivot in the rig. Pierrick’s method is a simple one, and only uses a couple of bones. The technique isn’t without its limitations though, as Pierrick shows in the tutorial.
