Holes and Bevels: Subdivision Modeling in C4D

Shane Benson, Some Solutions for Creating Hard Surface Forms With Subdivision modeling in C4D.

Working out how to model something is slightly more important than the tools used to make it. It’s the key behind subdivision modeling. Every once and a while we get a new sub-d modeling tutorial from Shane Benson. Shane’s Sub-D tutorials cover typically cover how to create complex shapes using Sub-D techniques in Cinema 4D. His latest is somewhat different, utilizing a practice-shape to drive home the concepts for working out a modeling plan.

Benson looks at a shape that has both a large beveled notch and holes on multiple sides. In all, the form is not a likely candidate for challenging things to model, but small practice models like this make a great way to hone your subdivision modeling skills.
