Expressions are a great way to drive things in Maya, albeit not the only way. If you want to exchange one Attribute for one that is driven by another single characteristic, connections are much better and faster. However, if you need to push multiple Attributes with some math, expressions are the way to go. Woo offers some practical examples for using random numbers in expressions and puts them into practice creating a simple instrument needle indicator.
