“Prepare for a long tutorial,” Mikey says prefacing his latest After Effects tutorial that walks through the process for rigging signs a call-out using text and shape layers and expressions. There is a lot of up-front set up involved, but it will all be worth it. At the end of the tutorial, you should have your very own callout asset preset that you can use anywhere.

The system will allow you to add any text to the call-out and have the bounding shape automatically adjust to match the size. “This auto links with whatever text layer you want, and is all around great. Anyways, its long, but I don’t hold anything back, you see the whole process.” Mikey says on the tutorial.
