New Plugin Takes Automatic Snapshots of Maya Perspective View

Auto Snapshot Plugin for Maya Can Quickly Take Snaps of 9 Different Renders from the Perspective Viewport.

Nemanja Stojanovic is a Software Engineer who has recently released a small plugin for Autodesk Maya that lets you automatically take snapshots of the viewport. Auto Snapshot is a tool that makes pictures of Maya’s Perspective window every time the window stops moving.

Auto Snapshot can render with nine different modes that include original, grayscale, cartoon (color), cartoon (gray), normal map, pencil sketch, edges, warming, and cooling tones.

“The initial idea is based on the fact that viewports are getting better and better and there is no need to wait for rendering to finish to show and save your work,” Stojanovic says. “Basic uses would be getting a lot of renders for presentations, fast scene preview or just generating sprites for games from 3D models.” “The other 8 renders are made just for fun, and maybe someone can find them useful,” Stojanovic mentions. The cartoon style renders, could be a way to get game sprites from 3D models quickly.

The Plug-in is built and tested for Maya 2018, and you can learn more about it here.
