Do You Know What I Mean?

Master Project – Bournemouth University A 3D animated film based on interviews conducted with three British residents who emigrated to the UK as children. The film recounts funny experiences, facing racism and how the interviewees now identify regarding the meaning of nationality.

The idea comes from one of the member’s group Viktorija, and her personal experience of emigrating to Britain as a 10 year old child in 2005. A cultural identity crisis followed for years after. The concept of the film is an attempt to gain an insight of the emotional journey that young born-abroad people undertake while finding their place in a new society, and the struggles they face.
The topic of immigration has been at the forefront of the British public’s attention for a long time- especially so since the Brexit referendum. We want to provide an insight to the experiences of citizens that are often under the scrutiny of the public and political eye. What makes a modern Brit?
This video will be about their stories and we believe people will relate to that because we are showing this differences.
Also, all the integrants of the group are international students (from Brazil, Latvia, Norway and Taiwan).
