How to Make an FK/IK Switch using Drivers in Blender

Dikko shows how to create an FK/IK Switch in Blender, making use of Drivers.

The last few tutorials from the Youtube Dikko channel covers character rigging in Blender. The latest installment has some insights into creating an FK/IK switch in Blender using a driver to switch between the two modes. A character rig needs to have the ability to switch between IK and FK. Some things are more comfortable to animate using Forward Kinematics, while others require inverse.

The latest in Dikko’s rigging series continues to build out the FK and IK components of the rig. Those components connect to the bones that deform the character model in Blender. “We then build a control bone that allows us to switch from one mode to the other using a driver!” Dikko says about the next steps in the tutorial. Check out the other installments in the series for the complete picture.
