Some Tips for a Faster Maya Start-Up Time

Malcolm Andrieshy shares some tips to get a faster start-up time for Maya.

The circuitous software trap is that more features might often come with slower performance. Certainly, Autodesk Maya has a problem where it takes a long, long time to start-up. There is a way to get some relief in that area, as shown by Malcolm Andrieshy’s latest quick tip tutorial.

Andrieshy shows how you can get Maya to start-up faster by merely turning off plugins that you may not use right away. Some of the culprits might include things like xGen, Maya’s instancing and grooming tool, and Bifrost, a visual effects sandbox. If you are not creating motion graphics style animation, MASH is a good one to turn off too to make some speed gains.
