Working With the New Tags Feature in Cavalry

Assigning Tags in Cavalry is essentially a more robust “shy” feature seen in Ae.

One of the areas that After Effects seems to fall short is in allowing users to manage things – Layers, elements, scenes, etc. In Ae, the shy feature is an important one, although pretty anemic. For a look at what “shy” could be, have a look at the new Tags feature in Cavalry.

Tags Let You Organize and More.

A new thing in the Cavalry beta PR13 is Tags. Check out this quick overview by Ian Waters that shows how tags are a great way to manage elements and save you time in your workflows.

More than “Shy.”

Cavalry Tags are a powerful new way for you to organize scenes. By assigning tags, you can then use them to create selection sets and to filter what appears in the Project Window or Viewport (or both). The Tags are a work in progress in the Cavalry PR13 beta. “We’ve coined the phrase ‘shy on steroids’ internally,” Waters notes.

It’s pretty easy. Visit the Scene Group and join in on the beta. You can also find more information on the public beta here. The Cavalry Public Beta release is free, and it’s available for macOS and Windows.
