There are a lot of ways to scatter geometry in Side FX Houdini. Scattering or “generating” elements for environments is standard practice, and some systems get pretty involved. When it comes to creating pieces for environments, something like SpeedTree is quite useful. This new tutorial Stormz shows how you can make a SpeedTree-like setup in Side FX Houdini to create grass.
Speedtree is a powerful piece of software, but it turns out you can create some of the same generators inside Houdini, including a Speedtree style grass generator.
