Motion Science shows how to create wires using some shading tricks between Ae and C4D.

If you have After Effects, you also have a “lite” version of Cinema 4D. That allows you to create 3D objects and render them using the Cinema 4D engine, right in Ae. That workflow is also an excellent way to get wireframe renders quickly.
