Stephen Mann runs through 3 (actually 3 and 1/2) ways to set a pole vector control’s position in Maya when rigging with IK.
One of the first things new riggers learn in Maya is how to set a Pole Vector Constraint and Control for RP, or Rotating Plane IK Handles. While using the Pole Vector Constraint is simple enough, the technique for placing the initial control may change depending on the rig.
This new tutorial from Stephen Mann shows three methods for placing that pole vector control. Mann offers two free python scripts to set pole vectors and create pole vector controls. Check that out here.
