Quick Matte Plugin for Cinema 4D Creates Black and White Mattes for Any Objects Easily

By April 2, 2013No Comments

AJ Haines offers a new Plugin for Cinema 4D that is based on EJ Hassenfratz’ tutorial for creating black and white mattes for any object in Cinema. The Quick Matte Plugin for Cinema 4D will allow you to render out a matte for any object and can be set up with the help of some simple buttons.

this plugin allows you to render a quick black and white matte of any objects you choose

Quick Matte will allow you to add to matte, subtract from matte, reset and preview, and is useful for those times when you render a scene and accidentally forgot to render a matte on certain objects, and don’t want to go back and render the whole thing again, as AJ notes.

Add to Matte will add a compositing tag to selected objects if it doesn’t already have one, and sets it’s color to white with everything else set to black. The Sub from Matte button will allow you to subtract an object form a matte, and the rest button will remove all the “new” tags created by the plugin, while leaving tags that were there previous.

Quick Matte also provides a viewport preview of your selection with the Add and Subtract buttons updating the preview. Check out the post for the Cinema 4D Quick Matte Plugin here, and EJ’s original tutorial inspiration below.
