Creating Heat Distortion Effect in Nuke Using the Noise and iDistort Nodes

By April 30, 2013No Comments

Stephan Fleet demonstrates a technique for achieving a more convincing heat distortion effect in Nuke, and uses the iDistort and Noise Nodes in Nuke that can create distortions without random testing.

In this tutorial I dissect the iDistort and Noise nodes and show you how to put them together to make a more convincing heat distortion look

Stephen also provides a better understanding of the iDistort and Noise Nodes, explaining what the nodes do in Nuke, and then goes on to show how to create a group in Nuke with custom functions, that can be saved out as a Nuke gizmo, automating the heat distortion effect. Check out the tutorial for Creating a More Convincing Heat Distortion Effect in Nuke here.
