If you need to be really accurate in mimicking the texture details from a photograph, The Render Blog has you covered showing how you can use Maya’s Projections to project texture reference into your scene, and then bake it as a texture to UV space.

Here, João uses Camera Projections in Autodesk Maya to help in texturing tasks by projecting parts of the scene, baking it, and then using that as a base for his render textures, finding a not-so-common use for Maya’s camera projections.
