Expressions for Pendulum, Bounce, and Spring in After Effects

Noble Kreative Offers Some Practical Examples for Expressions to Create Physical Motion Like a Pendulum, Bounce, and Spring in Ae.

You can use expressions in After Effects to drive a lot of things. In animation, it’s pretty simple to get expressions to create components of animations for you. From random motion, to oscillations and even physical movements like a pendulum, bounce, and spring action.

Noble Kreative’s Najib Khayati shows off some practical example for creating expressions for some of these most commonly used movements in animation. Of course, the bits of math involved here are by Ae’s Math.sin() or Math.cos() expression syntax, showing how useful they are in everyday work.

This look at creating pendulum and bounce effects isn’t Khayati’s first look at using Sine waves in After Effects. Previous, Khayati demonstrated how Sine works by showing how you can draw out a representation of the math. Check out How to Draw Various Sine Waves in After Effects With a Little Math and Expressions here.
