Simon Ubsdell Shows How to Perform the Frequency Separation Retouching Technique in BMD Fusion.

Longtime VFX Artist Simon Ubsdell posts a tutorial that shows how you can create a frequency separation rig in Blackmagic Design Fusion. His tutorial covers creating a custom 3D Keyer and also uses a custom linear light blend mode to create the effect.

Frequency separation is a standard image retouching workflow that uses a technique of breaking down an image into high and low frequencies thereby separating the details from the base of the picture, respectively. Simon demonstrates why the method is so popular, and then shows how to employ one right in Fusion by building a custom 3D keyer and a custom Linear Light Blend Mode. Fantastic.
