How to Create a Frosty Effect in Cinema 4D

By July 27, 2019No Comments

Andre Brites shows how to create a frosty effect in C4D using transparency, reflection, and bump.

When it comes to shading, you can get so much more out of materials by using maps to them. Whether procedural or bitmapped images, driving attributes with images is an excellent way to gain control. A great example of how to do this is with this new tutorial from Andre Brites, who shows how to make a frosty effect in Cinema 4D by controlling Transparency & Reflection blurriness.

The tutorial covers building the frosty effect as a material placed on a simple sphere object and how to drive the reflection in the shader with a noise shader. Then it’s a matter of creating and adjusting the blurriness on the transparency channel to achieve the frosty effect.
