Meshing Fluid Sims With ExplosiaFX in C4D

By September 19, 2020No Comments

Dave Bergin shows how you can create neat effects by meshing fluid sims using X-Particles’ ExplosiaFX.

A new tutorial from CG Shortcuts (Dave Bergin) shows how you can create abstractive animations using a fluid simulation and meshing it into something tangible. Of course, there is only one tool in the Cinema 4D arsenal that could handle this entire workflow, and that’s X-Particles.

Create the Meshing effect in Cinema 4D.

“We’ll use xpExplosiaFX in C4D and X-Particles to create the effect,” Bergin says about the tutorial. ExplosiaFX allows you to create realistic smoke, fire, and explosion sims right in C4D. You can export ExplosiaFX as a VDB volume, and any render engine that can read the VDB data can then render the volume data. Bergin uses the X-Particles OVDB Mesher to mesh the simulation.

X-Particles

C4D has a lot of tools for artists to create dynamics and even more third-party stuff too. X-Particles is becoming the one-stop-shop for all that within C4D quickly.
