Using The L3Deformer For Maya With nParticle Mesh Collision

By June 30, 2011No Comments

Another look at the L3Deformer suite of deformation plugins for Autodesk Maya, and one more look at post processing an nParticle mesh in maya using collisions and relaxing from the L3Deformer tools. This seems like a really great method to modify nParticle simulations with some control and not too much worry.

“This video tutorial shows how to post process a nParticle mesh using collisions and relaxing. The contact region of the original nParticle mesh is often irregular and intersects the collision surface. The Collision Deformer applies a very precise mesh collision based on actual vertices, compared to the the original nParticle collision that only uses the radius of particles. Relaxing is used to equalize the mesh.”

LightStorm3D has recently released the Deformation plugin for Maya, L3Deformer 1.0 which includes a Surface, Curve, Texture, and Collision deformer, each with their own settings and options. The L3Deformer for Maya is Windows only for the moment, however other platforms are in the planning stage. The L3Deformer carries a price of 149.00€ (plus VAT) and bulk pricing starts with 2 licenses.
