New ProSets Plugin Lets You Do Amazing Things in Maya

Mainframe North Releases New ProSets Plugin for Maya, Letting You Work With Procedural Selection Sets for Some Great Effects

A new plugin from Mainframe North, creators of the MASH suite of Motion Graphics tools in Maya, extends modeling and animation workflows letting users work with procedural selection sets. The plugin, ProSets, is a non-destructive procedural tool that allows you interactively adjust multiple selection types in Maya.

Power up your modeling workflow by combining Autodesk Maya’s modeling tools with a ProSet.

ProSets is an ingenious mechanism that essentially lets you manipulate or selectively show through Maya’s modeling history. The plugin works on modeling history of an object. Adding ProSets to an object that has an extrude applied, lets you modify where the and how extrusion shows up by using procedural methods.

Everything is done procedurally, so underlying primitive without destroying the plugin’s results. You can even stack multiple selection sets based on other parts of the object’s history, have one for extrude, and another for the bevel in history. The plugin lets you work with falloffs which means that you can animate the effects over time using a widget in the viewport.

ProSets costs £40, but you can get it for £20 as an introductory offer called the Trailblazers’ sale until 12:00 (GMT) Tuesday 20th February.
