Stuart Christensen returns and takes us through the ins-and-outs of using Mental Ray’s Physical Sun and Sky to set up simple daytime out door scenes. Pretty good if you are just starting out, and always a great way to set up scenes quickly.

“Outdoor scenes are often lit by a single source, the sun, and Maya lets you create a realistic simulation of the great outdoors with the Physical Sun and Sky options through Mental Ray. Learn how to set up a basic daytime simulation in this tutorial by Stuart Christensen. By default, the Physical Sun and sky doesn’t look so good but with a little tweaking it can look really sweet and open up all sorts of creative options for a final composite in After Effects.”
