Muse Creative’s Eugene Opperman takes a look at using Loft NURBS in Cinema 4D to animate a shape being created over time.
Much like Sweep NURBS in Cinema 4D, Loft NURBS can be animated in much the same way however there are limitations to the amount of control you can have with Loft NURBS, so Eugene shows how you are able to combine both for the best of both worlds – using Loft NURBS and having the control of being able to animate the splines as well.
What strikes me with the result video is that the animation has this stop motion like quality to it, which may be an inherently present effect.

Eugene Opperman writes on his tutorial: As cool as sweep nurbs are, they lack the control that loft nurbs have over the profile. Loft nurbs fall short when it comes to animating the splines like sweep nurbs can, so in this new tutorial, I’ll show you how to combine the best of both. Using a loft nurbs but having the control of being able to animate splines in.
