A look at taking an already created stationery walk cycle for an animated character in Maya, and taking it a step further by having the character walk throughout the scene.

…A tutorial on how to convert a stationary walk into one that moves through the scene using the Locinator tool…

Keith Osborn shows how this is done taking us through the process of converting a treadmill walk cycle to one that can be moved around in the scene at will. This is a great example of how effective using the the CGMonks Locinator Tool for animation tasks in Maya.

Locinator is a maya tool for dealing with locators and tracking objects to locators. Locanator has a great many uses and functions, being able to create locators based off of selection types easily, Stores attribute info on what they were created from so that they can be updated, and is ultimately useful for tracking any animated object in Maya.

The CG Monks are David Bokser, Josh Burton & Ryan Comingdeer who founded CGMonks for like minded tinkerers who like making and sharing stuff with the computer animation community – be that rigs, tools, short films or any other type of things cg artists enjoy playing with.
